The Roads and Transport Authority has finished building 193 kilometres of roads in nine residential communities at a cost of nearly Dh400 million.

The projects in Hatta, Al Quoz, Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha are part of a Dh1 billion, five-year plan to pave internal roads in Dubai residential districts, to be completed by 2016.

This year, the RTA completed roads in six residential communities. In March, roadworks finished in Al Quoz 3 at a cost of Dh21.7m. In February work was completed in Al Barsha 1, 2 and 3, at a cost of Dh174.5m, and Al Quoz 2 for Dh37.9m. In January, roads were finished in Al Khawaneej, costing Dh100m.

“Work is up and running in six residential areas, and works are expected to be completed this year at Al Warqaa 1, 2, 3 and 4,” said Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the RTA.

“Works are set for completion in the first half of next year ... in Muhaisnah 2, Barsha South 1, and collector roads at Barsha 2.”

“In the last quarter of this year, the RTA will release a tender for constructing internal roads at Mamzar, Nahda 1 and Oud Matina 2.”
