DUBAI // A driver training centre has opened in a bid to improve road safety and the standards of learner drivers.
The latest branch of the Roads and Transport Authority’s training and licensing centre has opened in a 400,000-square-metre plot at Al Quoz Industrial Area 2, near to Al Khail Gate.
It is the 15th RTA facility that provides training and testing services, and was opened to keep pace with increasing numbers of driver licence applications.
“The new branch fulfils the requirements of model driving institutes and cuts short the waiting time for a large number of customers before starting the training and qualification needed for the driver licence test,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, chief executive of the RTA’s Licensing Agency.
Drivers will be taught and tested in accordance with standards required in Dubai to ensure all drivers have been well trained.
In another move, the RTA has asked university students to come up with road safety ideas that could lead to cash prizes.
The best idea will win Dh10,000, while the runner-up picks up Dh7,000.
