SHARJAH // Paid afternoon parking in Sharjah will start on April 1.
The municipality said revised paid parking times in the emirate will be between 8am and 10pm.
In November last year, Sharjah agreed to end free parking between 1pm and 4pm in an attempt to curb abuse from motorists taking advantage of it, especially near marketplaces.
Since then, Sharjah Municipality has changed all parking signs in the emirate to reflect the new paid parking times.
Earlier in 2016, Dubai removed the similar free afternoon parking period starting May 28, with parking hours in the emirate now running straight from 8am until 10pm on working days.

Know before you go
- Jebel Akhdar is a two-hour drive from Muscat airport or a six-hour drive from Dubai. It’s impossible to visit by car unless you have a 4x4. Phone ahead to the hotel to arrange a transfer.
