RAS AL KHAIMAH // One person has died and five have been injured in a three-car smash in the early hours of Saturday.

A 19-year-old Emirati succumbed to his injuries after the crash on Emirates Road, according to Brigadier Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s central operations.

Five others - four Emiratis and one national from another Gulf country and all in their twenties - sustained moderate to severe injuries from the accident.

Police patrols, ambulances and rescuers were deployed to the scene of the accident at 1.30am on Saturday morning.

The accident was caused by a vehicle entering the main road without ensuring the path was clear.

Brig Al Humaidi expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and highlighted the importance of following traffic rules. He urged motorists to remain focused on the road, to respect speed limits and to make sure the path is clear before entering a road.
