New rules allow hourly car rental in Dubai

DUBAI // Motorists in Dubai will now be able to rent cars by the hour.

The new rules follow a directive by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, in his capacity as President of the Dubai Executive Council.

Anyone wanting to rent a vehicle by the hour must hold a valid driving licence and obtain a permit from the Road and Transport Authority.

The time of rental must not be more than six hours a day and the car cannot be taken outside the UAE, the RTA said.
