SHARJAH // An Arab motorcyclist was crushed to death on Thursday after his vehicle became trapped between a pickup truck and a lorry.
The accident, which happened on the Sharjah-bound side of Mohammed bin Zayed Road at around midday, caused lengthy tailbacks for drivers.
An Asian motorist also sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah.
Major Abdulrahman Khater of Sharjah Traffic Police said the accident was caused by the motorists not leaving a safe distance between their vehicles.
He said: “The pickup truck stopped abruptly and the motorbike crashed into it before the lorry crushed the motorbike.
“We urge motorists to drive carefully within speed limits and to not get distracted by using mobile phones while driving.”
