More than 230,000 journeys were made between Dubai and Oman during a busy Eid Al Adha holidays.
Dubai Customs stepped up it efforts to cope with the surge in visitors to the tourist trap country of Oman, with 1,400 employees and inspection officers working round-the-clock to ensure smooth passage for holiday-goers travelling to and from the UAE.
In addition, 977 coaches were processed at Hatta Customs Centre during the three-day period.
Many of the passenger will have been making return journeys through customs during the holiday, meaning that well over 100,000 people will have travelled from the UAE for an Oman break.
The Eid surge is a big tourism boost for Oman, coming hot on the heels of the country launching a wide-ranging plan to triple visitor numbers from 3.3 million in 2017 to more than 11 million annually by 2040.

Abdullah Al Khaja, acting director of Dubai Customs, said: “Our staff are trained to well receive guests into Dubai which gives a very positive impression about the emirate and the UAE and its people.”
Mohammed Al Muaini, director of land customs centre management at Dubai Customs, said: “We always work hard to facilitate trade and passenger traffic, but when it comes to special occasions and holidays we increase our activity.
"There are work plans and schedules in place to cope up with the increasing trade and tourism activity. Our inspection officers are highly efficient and skilled and they are equipped with the most advanced devices and systems in inspection field worldwide.”
