DUBAI // A Hyperloop link that would cut travel time between the emirate and Fujairah down to just 10 minutes will be among the ideas to be discussed as part of the Build Earth Live contest.
The international competition organised by Dubai Future Foundation will take place in Dubai this September.
The 48-hour contest seeks to attract international scientific cooperation into introducing the advanced technology that use tubes to propel goods and passengers in capsules.
“Dubai is hosting this global event as part of the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to make the UAE and Dubai a global platform for innovative minds to come together to create futuristic solutions on issues of relevance to humanity,” said Mohammed Al Gergawi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation.
“This contest is a great opportunity to explore innovation ideas in the smart transportation sector.”
So far more than 100 participants have enrolled under teams from various engineering and scientific international enterprises.
In the final stage, six teams will explain their project in front of evaluation judges.
The development of future transportation systems will have a profound impact on the way people perform their daily tasks, commute and work, said Mr Al Gergawi.
“This will eventually lead to massive global economic growth, and we aim to keep pace with the rapid developments by focusing on smart application of services and innovation in all fields.”
