Goalkeeper dies in car accident

An Emirati handball player died in a single-vehicle car accident in the eastern region of Sharjah on Saturday.

Ibrahim Ibrahim Hassan, 38, goalkeeper of the Al Ahli club, died after he lost control of his Lexus while on his way from Fujairah to Kalba.

Sharjah Police said that excessive speed and lack of attention while driving caused the accident. The car swerved out of control and flipped over.

Fans and supporters of the handball team took to Twitter to pay their respects.
