ABU DHABI // Motorists in the capital were met with congestion on Sunday morning as they made their way to work.
Drivers, who experienced tailbacks on Khaleej Al Arabi Road, were warned of the traffic jams by the Department of Transport.
“Slow traffic from International Airport Road to Mussaffah Bridge,” the DoT tweeted, at 7.15am.
Meanwhile, in the northern emirates, drivers were warned about low visibility as a result of thick fog.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology reported dense fog over Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and most western inland areas, with visibility down to 50 metres.
Satellite images showed dense fog over Al Dhaid and Al Madam, in Sharjah, and adjoining areas.
Dubai Police tweeted a warning to drivers caught in the fog, reminding them to be careful.
“Dear Driver: Don’t drive recklessly and remember that there is always someone waiting for you to return safely,” they tweeted.
