Emirates flight to Dubai diverted to Iceland due to ‘technical issue’

Flight EK232 travelling from Washington DC to Dubai had to change its flight path to Iceland, said the airline.

DUBAI // An Emirates flight between the United States and Dubai had to be diverted due to a technical issue, the airline has confirmed.

Flight EK232 travelling from Washington DC to Dubai on March 16 had to change its flight path to Iceland due to the issue, said Emirates.

“EK232 from Washington DC to Dubai was diverted to Iceland because of a technical issue,” said Emirates in a statement to the The National.

“Passengers were offered refreshments on the ground in Reykjavik.

“The issue has now been resolved and the Boeing 777-300ER is on its way to Dubai. We apologise for the inconvenience caused, however, the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised.”
