DUBAI // Dubai Police issued 1,373 traffic fines to motorists on National Day this year.
“We impounded 72 vehicles, of which 62 were cars and 10 were motorcycles,” said Brig Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the traffic department.
“Last year, we impounded 149 vehicles and recorded 21 traffic incidents, in which 11 people were injured.”
Brig Al Mazrouei said the numbers show “great improvement” compared to last year, when 1,628 fines were issued on National Day.
“We want to thank residents for cooperating with the authorities during celebrations to mark the 45th National Day,” he said.
“Members of the public play a big role in decreasing the number of accidents and fatalities as well as in raising awareness.”
