According to Dubai Police, 12 people were killed in incidents involving drivers under the influence of alcohol last year, an increase from five in 2012.
Of the 2,944 crashes overall in Dubai emirate last year, 361 involved drink drivers.
Crashes involving 69 of those 361 drink drivers led to fatalities or injuries.
In addition to the 12 deaths caused by drink drivers, four people sustained serious injuries, 21 had moderate injuries and 60 sustained minor injuries.
In 2012, there were a total of 2,940 crashes, 355 of which involved alcohol. Sixty-seven of the 355 led to fatalities or injuries.
As well as the five dead, seven people were seriously injured, 27 moderately and 71 sustained minor injuries.
