Car flips over causing rush-hour tailbacks on Abu Dhabi to Dubai motorway

Rush-hour traffic was brought to a standstill today after a car crashed and flipped onto its roof on the Dubai-bound carriageway of E10 Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road, near the Twofour54 media cluster.

ABU DHABI // Rush-hour traffic was brought to a standstill today after a car crashed and flipped onto its roof on the Dubai-bound carriageway of E10 Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road, near the Twofour54 media cluster.

The accident happened around 9am, just before the Sheikh Zayed Bridge, and involved one car, believed to be a small hatchback.

Emergency crews, including fire, police and paramedics were called to the scene, and worked to right the vehicle and remove it from the road.

As of 10am, five lanes of traffic were stationary and backed-up to the IPIC buildings.

It is unknown if anyone was injured in the accident.

At 10.45am, Abu Dhabi Police reported via Twitter that traffic ‘was back to normal’.
