Car driver killed in collision with lorry

Vehicle trapped underneath swerving lorry as it passed and then dragged for 300 metres, say police.

RAS AL KHAIMAH // A 41-year-old man has died after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a lorry on the two-lane Al Tawaeen Road. Police said the lorry swerved to the left, trapping the passing car underneath it and dragging it for 300 metres before the lorry stopped in a ditch at the side of the road. The body of the so-far unidentified driver', believed to be an Asian man. was found in the wreckage. Police said the driver died on impact. The lorry driver, a 38-year-old Arab national, was detained pending an investigation. [e-mail]
