A group of school children escaped unhurt after their bus collided with a mini van on the southbound carriageway of Sheikh Zayed Road this morning.
The accident happened near Dubai Media City at 7.20am and involved a van and a school bus on its way to Delhi Private School in The Gardens near Jebel Ali.

The school's principal, Rashmi Nandkeolyar, said none of the children were hurt and all were back in class.
"The children are absolutely all right and are back in school," she said. "They were a little shocked because of the noise of the glass shattering. We rang up each and every parent to assure them that the children are safe."
She said the school had been inundated with calls from anxious parents.
Police earlier described the crash as "serious" and advised motorists to avoid the area. Witnesses said some of the injured were airlifted to hospital.
Stationary traffic stretched as far back as Trade Centre Roundabout, with the Abu Dhabi bound lanes of Sheikh Zayed Road closed until approximately 9.30am.
"I saw that a school bus had collided with a mini van," a witness said. "There was a helicopter which airlifted injured people. There was a huge jam because of the accident."
School representatives said the accident happened when a van travelling in front of its school bus suffered a tyre blow out. The van suddenly slowed down causing the school bus to crash into its rear end. The school said 28 children from kindergarten level to grade 12 were on board.
Other buses from the school travelling on the same route pulled up at the side of the road to help the children, teachers and staff.
"The primary school teacher, who was there, immediately transferred the children to the other buses," Ms Nandkeolyar said. "The police were also extremely helpful and efficient in moving the children to another bus."
One of the four teachers accompanying the children sustained minor injuries and was taken to Al Baraha Hospital for treatment, the school said. The bus driver suffered a broken leg and was taken to Al Rashid Hospital. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow. The bus attendant also sustained minor injuries.
Salah bin Faroosha, Dubai's chief traffic prosecutor, said a full statement on the condition of those injured would be released later this afternoon.
The accident caused lengthy tail backs on Sheikh Zayed Road and alternative routes including Al Sufouh Road.
"I took Umm Suqeim Street when I saw traffic ahead of me on Sheikh Zayed was not moving," said Khairallah Suheib, a Pakistani office manager who works in Jebel Ali. "When I got to Sufouh Road I knew I was going to be late for work because traffic was barely moving."
Hassan Morgan, an Egyptian pharmacist, added: "I heard on the radio that traffic was stopped on Sheikh Zayed Road because of a big crash and thought it would be smart to come down this way [Al Sufouh Road]. But it seems that everyone else had the same idea."
The wrecked vehicles and debris had been removed from Sheikh Zayed Road by 9.30am, allowing the road to be reopened to traffic.

Teaching your child to save
Pre-school (three - five years)
You can’t yet talk about investing or borrowing, but introduce a “classic” money bank and start putting gifts and allowances away. When the child wants a specific toy, have them save for it and help them track their progress.
Early childhood (six - eight years)

No one has ended a Premier League season quite like Sunderland. They lost each of their final 15 games, taking no points after January. They ended up with 19 in total, sacking managers Peter Reid and Howard Wilkinson and losing 3-1 to Charlton when they scored three own goals in eight minutes.

What drives subscription retailing?
Once the domain of newspaper home deliveries, subscription model retailing has combined with e-commerce to permeate myriad products and services.
The concept has grown tremendously around the world and is forecast to thrive further, according to UnivDatos Market Insights’ report on recent and predicted trends in the sector.
The global subscription e-commerce market was valued at $13.2 billion (Dh48.5bn) in 2018. It is forecast to touch $478.2bn in 2025, and include the entertainment, fitness, food, cosmetics, baby care and fashion sectors.
The report says subscription-based services currently constitute “a small trend within e-commerce”. The US hosts almost 70 per cent of recurring plan firms, including leaders Dollar Shave Club, Hello Fresh and Netflix. Walmart and Sephora are among longer established retailers entering the space.
UnivDatos cites younger and affluent urbanites as prime subscription targets, with women currently the largest share of end-users.
That’s expected to remain unchanged until 2025, when women will represent a $246.6bn market share, owing to increasing numbers of start-ups targeting women.
Personal care and beauty occupy the largest chunk of the worldwide subscription e-commerce market, with changing lifestyles, work schedules, customisation and convenience among the chief future drivers.

Islamophobia definition
A widely accepted definition was made by the All Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims in 2019: “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.” It further defines it as “inciting hatred or violence against Muslims”.
The smuggler
Eldarir had arrived at JFK in January 2020 with three suitcases, containing goods he valued at $300, when he was directed to a search area.
Officers found 41 gold artefacts among the bags, including amulets from a funerary set which prepared the deceased for the afterlife.
Also found was a cartouche of a Ptolemaic king on a relief that was originally part of a royal building or temple.
The largest single group of items found in Eldarir’s cases were 400 shabtis, or figurines.
Khouli conviction
Khouli smuggled items into the US by making false declarations to customs about the country of origin and value of the items.
According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he provided “false provenances which stated that [two] Egyptian antiquities were part of a collection assembled by Khouli's father in Israel in the 1960s” when in fact “Khouli acquired the Egyptian antiquities from other dealers”.
He was sentenced to one year of probation, six months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service in 2012 after admitting buying and smuggling Egyptian antiquities, including coffins, funerary boats and limestone figures.

A number of other items said to come from the collection of Ezeldeen Taha Eldarir are currently or recently for sale.
Their provenance is described in near identical terms as the British Museum shabti: bought from Salahaddin Sirmali, "authenticated and appraised" by Hossen Rashed, then imported to the US in 1948.
