Al Dhaid-Masafi road nears completion

The Ministry of Public Works announced the Al Dhaid-Masafi road, stretching over 29 kilometres, will be complete by the end of the month. The road, which has two lanes in each direction, is now 90 per cent finished, reported Al Itthad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.

Jaber Jassem, director of the roads department of the Ministry of Public Works, said the road goes from Al Dhaid (mosque roundabout) to the city of Masafi.

The project is intended to increase road safety through increased efficiency and traffic flow, thus contributing to economic and commercial growth and transport of goods. It is primarily used by commercial cargo trucks coming to and from industrial plants, quarries and other factories.
