Umm Al Quwain Police have extended a grace period where motorists are given a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines until January 2. The discount was supposed to end this week.

“The extension gives owners of vehicles with expired licences the chance to renew them and to correct any traffic violations,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of Traffic and Patrols Department at UAQ Police.

He added that the decision allows motorists who were not able to rectify their situation within the previous grace period to settle their outstanding traffic fines.

The decision includes vehicles registered in the other emirates, but applies to traffic offences fined by UAQ traffic police.

Owners of vehicles can pay the reduced traffic fines at any service centre across the country except for violations which require them to report to UAQ Traffic and Patrols Department to complete the procedures.
