ABU DHABI // A total of 280 vehicles were impounded for one month during the 43rd National Day holidays.
The drivers of the vehicles were each fined Dh2,000 and had 12 points added to their licences.
Offences included flouting traffic and car decoration laws, causing annoyance and noise, driving recklessly and posing a danger to the public, making engine modifications, driving without a licence and getting involved in behaviour that contradicts the Spirit of the Union.
Brig Hussain Ahmad Al Harthy, director of Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that drivers who had their vehicles seized broke the rules despite an aggressive awareness campaign.
He said violations included drivers and passengers using spray paint, leaning out of windows and sunroofs, adding accessories that block vision and threaten safety and driving unsafely.

Libya's Gold
UN Panel of Experts found regime secretly sold a fifth of the country's gold reserves.
The panel’s 2017 report followed a trail to West Africa where large sums of cash and gold were hidden by Abdullah Al Senussi, Qaddafi’s former intelligence chief, in 2011.
Cases filled with cash that was said to amount to $560m in 100 dollar notes, that was kept by a group of Libyans in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
A second stash was said to have been held in Accra, Ghana, inside boxes at the local offices of an international human rights organisation based in France.

What is an FTO Designation?
FTO designations impose immigration restrictions on members of the organisation simply by virtue of their membership and triggers a criminal prohibition on knowingly providing material support or resources to the designated organisation as well as asset freezes.
