12 injured in two Sharjah traffic accidents

SHARJAH // Twelve people were injured in two accidents on Mohammed bin Zayed Road early on Sunday morning.

The police operations room received a call at 4.40am after a car crashed into a lorry and dispatched officers and emergency crews to the scene.

According to reports, a Bangladeshi man crashed his vehicle into a lorry parked at a roadside construction site, causing the car to swerve and hit several workers as they were as getting on a bus parked further down the road.

The driver sustained severe injuries while the workers suffered light to severe injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

While police were attempting to clear the scene of the accident, a vehicle driven by a Yemini man crashed into the damaged car as it was being towed away. He sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said the accidents were due to high speed, a lack of attention to the road and construction signs placed to warn drivers.
