DUBAI // A man sustained serious injuries when a car ran him over while he was trying to cross Sheikh Zayed Road from an undesignated area on Thursday night.

Col Saif Al Mazroui, director of the Dubai Police traffic department, said the incident happened near Times Square Centre towards Abu Dhabi.

He said that the man was first hit by a Ford, after which he was thrown at another vehicle, a Nissan.

The man was taken to hospital, where he remains.
