DUBAI// A series of traffic diversions on roads in Dubai Investments Park and Discovery Gardens have been announced by the Roads and Transport Authority.

The work is being done as the next stage of the Route 2020 Project to link the Expo 2020 site with the Dubai Metro.

“The Roads and Transport Authority is keen on completing the infrastructures of Route 2020 according to plan and schedule,” said Maitha bin Adai, chief executive of the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.

“Such compliance will ensure the smooth flow of traffic on public or internal roads of residential complexes and business communities impacted by this strategic project.”

A traffic diversion will be created over two phases on internal roads at DIP.

It will mean part of Street 70 closing, existing roundabouts will be upgraded, and traffic will be diverted to alternative roads while keeping the private entry points to the buildings open on Street 70.

The first phase of the diversions will begin in early June, followed by phase two in mid-June.

Diversions will remain in place pending the completion of the required works, she said.

“The RTA has charted out a plan to carry out temporary traffic diversions of Route 2020 Project over several phases during the project construction period,” said Ms bin Adai.

“The project teams and associated firms will spare no effort in ensuring the smooth traffic flow, and alleviating the impact on residents of the neighborhood until the completion of all project works.”

She urged motorists and road users to pay attention to traffic diversions, comply with directional signs for their safety, and avoid triggering congestion that cause bottlenecks.

Once started work will run 24 hours a day seven days a week until the completion.

The RTA had carried out a traffic diversion last March on Ibn Battuta Road in Discovery Gardens.

This diversion will remain in place until December 2019 and involves the closure of one of the three lanes, extends from Interchange 7 to Interchange 12.
