Three people have been rescued from road accidents in several Air Wing helicopter missions during the National Day holiday.
The Abu Dhabi helicopter rescue unit took three people, two men and a girl, to Al Mafraq and Al Rahba hospitals after they sustained injuries in three separate car accidents, according to Abu Dhabi police.
Emergency services received a report of a Pakistani man injured in a traffic accident in the Al Khazna area.
The 50-year-old was severely injured following two-car collision on the Abu Dhabi to Al Ain road and was airlifted to Al Mafraq hospital.
Another 26-year-old Pakistani man was also rescued after a road accident in the Saih Shuaib area. He had sustained serious fractures and was airlifted to Al Rahba hospital.
The air ambulance was called into action for a third time over the same weekend, airlifting an Emirati woman who was involved in a car accident in the Sweihan area. She was also admitted to Al Mafraq hospital.
The specialist rescue department at Abu Dhabi police conducts a wide range of humanitarian and service missions, including airlifting patients, search and rescue operations and road surveillance using high tech tools and equipment.
