Three-month amnesty for illegal UAE residents to launch

Illegal residents in the UAE will be able to leave the country without a fine or entry ban under a three-month amnesty that will start on August 1.

Brig Saeed Rakan Al Rashed, director of residency affairs at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, said applicants will receive their exit clearance a day after they hand in their applications.

The amnesty allows illegal residents to leave the country and Brig Al Rashed urged visa violators to take advantage of it.

Nine immigration centres across the UAE have been dedicated to the amnesty and will operate from 8am until 8pm on weekdays. They include ones in Al Shahama in Abu Dhabi and Al Awir in Dubai.
