Three injured in fire at Umm Al Quwain warehouse

UMM AL QUWAIN // A warehouse filled with old car tyres went up in flames in a UAQ industrial estate on Monday morning.

Three African men were injured in the blaze at Umm Al Thobe industrial area, said Col Khamis Ibrahim, head of UAQ operations room, which happened.

“The operations room received a call at 8am about the explosion of a furnace for grinding waste tyres,” Col Ibrahim said.

The civil defence crew evacuated the area around the site and put out the fire, while the injured men were taken to hospital.

The site has been handed over to police after being cooled down by firefighters, Col Ibrahim said.
