ABU DHABI // Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is on schedule to open next year, with testing for all 29 rides almost complete.

Miral, the Abu Dhabi Government-backed company bringing the indoor theme park to the capital, said delivery and installation of rides had started.

Once complete, the park will include shows, interactive attractions, shops selling merchandise, and restaurants.

“Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi marks an important step in the development of Yas Island as a complete leisure and entertainment destination, and we can’t wait to share it with the world,” said Mohammed Al Zaabi, chief executive of Miral. “We’re very delighted to see the park coming together and on track for the 2018 launch.

The park will bring together superheroes and supervillains from the DC Universe, including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, and animated characters from Warner Bros such as Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry at the park, which covers more than 15 hectares.

The theme park comes as part of Yas Island’s aim to attract 48 million annual visitors by 2022.

Miral's Yas Island attractions include Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Clymb, due to open next year, and the recently announced SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, opening in 2022.

Last year, Dubai opened IMG Worlds of Adventure, billed as the world’s largest indoor theme park, and the Dubai Parks and Resorts, a multi-park featuring Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai and Legoland Dubai.
