DUBAI// A armed robber snatched a purse off a woman in the street then stabbed a passer-by who tried to intervene, the criminal court heard on Tuesday.
On October 29, last year, Afghani KA, 25, stalked a Chinese woman who was leaving a bank in the Gold Market in Deira, then stole her bag containing Dh4,955 and US currency worth $500.
An Indian who worked in a nearby shop saw the incident and came to the woman’s aid.

“We engaged in a fist fight but he resisted me fiercely then took me by surprise and stabbed me in the hand,” said F F, 33, adding that the thief then pulled the bag out of his hand and started running away.
The woman’s screams caught the attention of police officers on foot patrol, who arrived on the scene to see K A running away.
The officers chased the thief and managed to restrain and arrest him.
F F was taken to hosiptal where he was found to have two deep knife wounds in his hand.
