DUBAI // Six men have been arrested following the theft of a series of vehicles in Dubai.

Dubai Police said officers had received seven separate reports from owners stating their cars had vanished from parking lots in the Muraqabat area of Deira.

Major General Khalil Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said: “A police squad was set-up immediately to follow the case and track down the culprits.

“The suspects, all from Asian countries, confessed to the crimes. They told police that they sold the stolen cars either directly to shops or to repair workshops for scrap.”

Police referred the six suspects to Dubai Public Prosecution.

Officers urged vehicle owners to call police on 800 CID if they see suspicious individuals hanging around car parks.
