ABU DHABI // A shelf-stacker accused of molesting a young girl at the supermarket where he worked was only playing with the child, a court heard.
A D, a Pakistani, on Tuesday told the Criminal Court he was “teasing her” as if she was his younger sister.
“I did not touch her in any inappropriate areas,” he said.
When asked by chief justice Idris Binmansour if he kissed her, A D said: “Yes, on her head.”
“Did you take her to an empty garage and close the door behind you?” said the judge. A D said no.
A D is also accused of threatening to kill the girl if she told anyone what he had done. He also denied this charge.
When A D was reminded he had confessed to police and prosecutors, he insisted he had denied the charges.
A verdict will be announced on Wednesday.
