Sheikh Saif praises Abu Dhabi policemen for saving boy, 7, from drowning

ABU DHABI // Two Abu Dhabi policemen have been praised for helping to save a 7-year-old boy from drowning.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, expressed his appreciation for the bravery of Corporal Khaled Abdulhamid Al Ali and Corporal Saif Omar Al Minhali in the line of duty.

Sheikh Saif honoured both officers at his office at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ on Tuesday and thanked them for their efforts to rescue Abdullah Salem Al Hamami, 7, from drowning.

The officers were in their patrol car when they saw the child, from Saudi Arabia, in trouble in the sea at Al Shalila and another person on shore in a state of distress, who turned out to be the child’s father, calling for help.

They rushed to the child and gave him CPR and first aid while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
