Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has been briefed on the latest developments in the ongoing project to restore Al Ain Museum and Sultan Fort.
"The late Sheikh Zayed was keen to build a museum to document the nation's heritage, history and ensure due concern is paid to our archeological treasures," said Sheikh Mohamed.
"The restoration scheme goes in unison with other modernisation developments ongoing across the emirate of Abu Dhabi to ensure harmony between tradition and modernity."
Al Ain Museum was opened by President Sheikh Khalifa, then the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in 1970 and is the oldest museum in the UAE.

It charts the history of Al Ain from the Stone Age through to the foundation of the UAE, and houses artefacts discovered at archaeological sites across the region.
It was relocated to its current location in 1971.
The Sultan Fort lies at the eastern edge of Al Ain Oasis and is one of a number of historic buildings associated with the increased influence of the ruling Al Nahyan family in Al Ain from the end of the 19th century onwards.
The fort lies within the grounds of Al Ain Museum and forms one of its major attractions.
