ABU DHABI // Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, broke his arm this morning.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs released a statement on the state news agency, WAM, reporting that Sheikh Khalifa was injured accidentally, while performing his daily exercises.
In August, Sheikh Khalifa, 62, was in Switzerland for a comprehensive medical check-up that required necessary treatment for an undisclosed condition. After “a period of convalescence” that lasted nearly a month, he returned to the UAE on September 17. He has since been reported to be in excellent health.
The Ministry reported via WAM that Sheikh Khalifa “will rest for several days” after today’s accident, but did not elaborate as to the exact cause of the injury.
