Sharjah warehouse gutted by fire

Earlier this month, the Sharjah Civil Defence Department found than 1,000 establishments inspected this year failed to meet basic fire safety and security requirements.

SHARJAH // A Sharjah warehouse that stored gas cylinders went up in flames on Monday.

No casualties were reported and firefighters contained the fire after receiving an alert in the afternoon.

The building, in Al Sajaa, was destroyed. Additional help came from civil defence units in Semnan and Muwaileh, and Sharjah Municipality. An investigation is ongoing. Earlier this month, the Sharjah Civil Defence Department found than 1,000 establishments inspected this year failed to meet basic fire safety and security requirements.
