SHARJAH // The Ruler of Sharjah has approved a public park project in the emirate’s eastern enclave of Kalba.

The Kalba park project for Al Ghail area will include shaded rest houses, barbecue areas and sport facilities, reported Wam, the state news agency.

The Sharjah Department of Planning and Survey will allocate a large plot of land for the park, said Ali bin Shaeen, chairman of the Sharjah Public Works Department, speaking to Sharjah Radio.

“The Kalba park will be modelled and designed to the Sharjah National Park’s specifications and maintain high safety and protection systems so as to become a round-the-year attractive tourist and recreational destination for families and visitors,’’ he told the station.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sharjah’s Ruler, also approved the construction of a rubber walkway in Sidra Women’s Garden, and instructed the department to start work on Al Saf and Mafraq gardens.

Two other gardens have been approved by Dr Sheikh Sultan in Al Sayouh districts 4 and 6.
