SHARJAH // A man has been arrested on suspicion of conning delivery drivers out of cash and produce.
Police were informed that the man would call restaurants and grocery stores to place an order for home delivery, then ask them to bring change for a Dh1,000 note.
When the delivery arrived at the building he specified, he would take the goods and change, claiming he had just left his apartment and tell the delivery staff that his wife would provide them with the money.
He would give them a false apartment number and make off in a rental car after the delivery staff entered the lift to the apartment.
Sharjah Police were informed and the suspect, A M N, who is from an Arab country, was arrested by CID officers.
His case has been referred to Sharjah public prosecution on charges of theft and fraud.
