Dozens of junior boffins will take over the capital for the landmark tenth Abu Dhabi Science Festival this month.
More than 80 young innovators will be showcasing their projects at the annual celebration of science from January 30 until February 8.
More than 120,000 visitors are expected to flock to the festival's three venues, A'l Bahar at Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Jahili Park in Al Ain and the City Mall in Al Dhafra.
The Abu Dhabi Science Festival, organised by the emirate's Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek), will be open to school pupils from 9am to 1pm, and from 4pm to 10pm on weekdays. On weekends, the festival will be open to the public from 2pm to 10pm.
“This year, the UAE celebrates ‘2020: Towards the next 50’, and Adek is looking forward to continuing to organise this important annual initiative as it contributes to developing human capital in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics," said Amer Al Hammadi, acting undersecretary at Adek.
Sanad Humaid, Adek's official spokesperson for the science festival, said the festival helps to harness creativity, innovative and discovery in the minds of the next generation.
"The Abu Dhabi Science Festival inspires a spirit of discovery, innovation, and creativity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics among the younger generation," said Mr Humaid.
Mr Humaid called on pupils and members of the public to experience the event and learn about the latest creations from inventors as well as important work in the field carried out by the public and private sector.
