An Iraqi man has been executed in Saudi Arabia for the murder of an Emirati.
Wesam Al Mahssanawi gunned down Mohammed Al Amiri with a machine gun before stealing his car, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement carried by state news agency SPA.
Al Mahssanawi was executed in the northeastern city of Hafr Al Baten on Thursday.
In 2015, Saudi Arabia executed 153 people, mostly for drug trafficking or murder, according to a tally by the AFP news agency.
The kingdom practices an Islamic legal code under which murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy are all punishable by death. On January 2, the kingdom executed 47 people for ‘terrorism’.
