ABU DHABI // UAE aid chiefs in Yemen on Wednesday moved their operations centre from the capital, Sanaa, to Aden.

Emirates Red Crescent has also improved its logistics in Yemen, and sent more qualified Emirati and local aid workers to implement its programmes.

Aden has been the hub of the aid operation in Yemen since Houthi rebels were driven from the southern port city last month. Forces loyal to the exiled president Abdrabu Mansur Hadi, backed by a Saudi-led Arab coalition including the UAE, continued to force the rebels farther north on Wednesday.

They recaptured Huta, provincial capital of Lahj, a day after retaking Al Anad military air base.

UAE and UN aid shipments have arrived in Aden by sea and air, and on Wednesday a Saudi military plane landed with 25 tonnes of medical supplies.
