Red Crescent helping Dubai tower blaze victims

The UAE Red Crescent is collecting donations for the residents of Tamweel Tower.

Social media sites have been alive with offers of help since fire ripped though the 34-storey tower in the early hours of Sunday.

Donations can be dropped off at the Red Crescent branch in Al Rashidiya, opposite the police station.

A statement on the website of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), the master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers, said the residents were in need of essential items but did not specify what was in greatest demand.

Some people's apartment's were totally gutted by the blaze.

Tamweel residents who are in need of donations are advised to call Mohammed Kamal at the Red Crescent on +971 50 425 4433 to find out what is available.

People who want to donate and can't get to the Red Crescent branch were also advised to contact Mr Kamal.
