The Department of Public Works in Ras Al Khaimah has removed several structures that break regulations for the sewerage system in valleys, including majlises, barns and wooden cabins.

The department announced that it began dredging the sewerage of 20 valleys and an emergency and crisis committee was formed to work with residents in areas affected by rainfall, said Ahmed Al Hammadi, director general at the department.

He said the agency has joined with the municipality, civil defence and the Federal Electricity and Water Authority to “locate the violations on sewerage systems in valleys where residents had built or added annexes such as majlises, barns, parking lots or other buildings that impeded water movement and obstructed its course in the valley, causing it to deviate from its original course”.
