More than 1,000 pupils can find out if their future careers lie in fashion design, aircraft, motorsports or even robotics as part of a three-week summer programme.
The Institute of Applied Technology in Abu Dhabi announced yesterday that all Emiratis between the ages of 14 and 18 can apply online for a pit stop at Yas Marina Circuit or head to the Al Ain International Aviation Academy as part of a range of courses on offer.
Other subjects include robotics, microcontrollers, photography, web design, jewellery design, film, information and communications technology, English, and leadership. Most will also include a weekly "adventure" day.
"We want them to learn in this programme and get to know different professions to better guide them in the future," said Dr Abdullatif al Shamsi, the institute's managing director. He promised three weeks "packed with activities and fun".
Programmes will run at 15 institutes in Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Delma island, at locations including Al Jaheli Institute of Science and Technology, Fatima College of Health Sciences and Yas Marina Circuit.
Although only 1,100 places are initially being offered, Dr Walid Yasin, the manager of quality assurance and planning at IAT, said more could be added if necessary.
Programmes will start on July 3 and will end on July 26. Students will also be given "passports" to keep a record of their new skill.

Safety 'top priority' for rival hyperloop company
The chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Andres de Leon, said his company's hyperloop technology is “ready” and safe.
He said the company prioritised safety throughout its development and, last year, Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, announced it was ready to insure their technology.
“Our levitation, propulsion, and vacuum technology have all been developed [...] over several decades and have been deployed and tested at full scale,” he said in a statement to The National.
“Only once the system has been certified and approved will it move people,” he said.
HyperloopTT has begun designing and engineering processes for its Abu Dhabi projects and hopes to break ground soon.
With no delivery date yet announced, Mr de Leon said timelines had to be considered carefully, as government approval, permits, and regulations could create necessary delays.

Types of bank fraud
1) Phishing
Fraudsters send an unsolicited email that appears to be from a financial institution or online retailer. The hoax email requests that you provide sensitive information, often by clicking on to a link leading to a fake website.
2) Smishing
The SMS equivalent of phishing. Fraudsters falsify the telephone number through “text spoofing,” so that it appears to be a genuine text from the bank.
3) Vishing
The telephone equivalent of phishing and smishing. Fraudsters may pose as bank staff, police or government officials. They may persuade the consumer to transfer money or divulge personal information.
4) SIM swap
Fraudsters duplicate the SIM of your mobile number without your knowledge or authorisation, allowing them to conduct financial transactions with your bank.
5) Identity theft
Someone illegally obtains your confidential information, through various ways, such as theft of your wallet, bank and utility bill statements, computer intrusion and social networks.
6) Prize scams
Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
