The first round of Al Dhafra camel beauty contest winners have been announced, with some driving away with brand new SUVs as prizes.
This year Dh55 million and about 225 cars will be awarded to winners at the Dhafra festival, which started on Saturday and will continue until January 1.
About 1,500 participants and 25,000 camels are expected.
Over the 10-day period there will be more than 70 camel competitions, the first of which saw Hamad Al Mansouri win an SUV thanks to his red-haired camel.
