President Sheikh Khalifa has issued a decree appointing Ahmed Al Sayegh as Minister of State.
Mr Al Sayegh is a prominent businessman and is currently the chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market. He also serves as the managing director for Dolphin Energy and is a board member of Etihad Airways.
He started his career at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and went on to become its finance director.
In 2004, Mr Al Sayegh founded Aldar Properties, where he served as chairman until April 2011.
He has also served as board member at several key organisations, such as UAE Offsets Group, Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority and was deputy chairman of First Gulf Bank and Abu Dhabi Ship Building.
The new Minister of State is a founding managing director of the Emirates Foundation and served on the board of trustees of Abu Dhabi University and was the founding chairman of Masdar.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, US.
Sheikh Khalifa also appointed Dr Ahmed Al Mazrouei as chairman of the office of the Abu Dhabi Ruler at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.
