A police station cleaner has pleaded guilty to stealing Dh1,900 from a female officer’s purse.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the Indian defendant, 26, took the cash after the policewoman left the item at work on May 27.
After she reporting the money missing, officers checked the station’s CCTV cameras and identified the male suspect.
“I left it [the purse] on the desk with cash inside and when I returned in the evening I could not find the cash,” the policewoman said.
During police questioning, the man admitted one charge of theft. A verdict will be given on July 30.
