Abu Dhabi Police and the UAE Pro League Committee have discussed ways to promote stadium security during games and to approve general guidelines prior to implementing the law on sports events and facilities.
Brigadier Fares Al Farisi, director general of guards and special tasks at the police, and chairman of the Stadium Security Committee, held a meeting with the UAE Pro League Committee representative to coordinate security standards at football games according to Fifa requirements.
Some suggestions were opening stadium gates two hours before the game and hiring private security companies to search fans under police supervision.
Brig Al Farisi stressed that the match commissioner and the stadium security officer are in charge of monitoring stadium activities prior to the arrival of the police.
He urged clubs to ensure that a sufficient number of security guards are provided. The clubs, he said, were responsible for the security of players in their stadiums and facilities.
