Police awareness campaigns see decrease in Sharjah crime

Sharjah Police said the crime rate in the emirate for 2014 was down 8 per cent.

A report from the statistics branch showed, however, a 0.02 per cent increase in severe traffic-related injuries compared to 2013 figures.

Col Sultan Al Khayal, director of the department of media and public relations for the police, praised the role and importance of awareness campaigns in reducing crime volume and types.

Sharjah Police organised 21 awareness campaigns last year.
