The Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police arrested an Arab and an Asian who were attempting to carry out a black money scam.
Colonel Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, said a fraud case was reported about a man claiming he could double his victims’ money by offering them a bunch of black bank notes claiming they were $100 bills and said he wanted to sell 5,000 black banknotes for Dh300,000.
Upon investigation, CID teams learnt that the man was going to sell the banknotes in a hotel room in Ajman.
All legal procedures were taken and police raided the scene, arrested both suspects, an Asian man, W M B and Arab man, Y Q H, who were caught while delivering the counterfeit bills to a third individual.
Three boxes containing counterfeit dollars were found in their possession at the scene and upon searching their homes police teams found large quantities of counterfeit bills used in other similar scams.
Colonel Al Matrooshi said during primary interrogations they both confessed to fraud charges brought against them and the case file was referred to public prosecution for the completion of legal formalities.
