Police were called to the scene of a crash between a lorry and a minibus on Emirates Road, leading to Abu Dhabi Bridge, at 3pm on Thursday, in which one of the driver’s died.
The driver of the lorry was parked on the road with his hazard lights on to indicate that there was heavy traffic ahead, he said.
According to Dubai Police, the minibus, coming up behind the lorry, failed to realise the lorry was stationary as he approached. The driver tried to avoid crashing and swerved to the right. He continued breaking for 33 metres, police said, but crashed and ied immediately.
A passenger who was with him sustained mild injuries.
