Oman air force helicopter joins search for missing Emirati brothers

An Oman royal air force helicopter has joined the search Thursday for two Emirati brothers who went missing off the country’s southern coast last week.

The helicopter will provide further air assistance to the search team led by the General Authority for Civil Defence and Rescue Oman.

Mohammed Al Dhaheri, father of Abdullah, 21, and Mansour, 19, said that Omani authorities have yet to locate the two men, who have been missing since last Thursday.

The young men disappeared during a recreational trip for Eid Al Fitr, visiting the town of Mirbat.

They were at a beach in Dhofar province, east of Salalah, when they were swept out to sea by rough waves.

They were part of a group of six men who had arrived in Salalah on Wednesday night.
