New guide gives UAE fans the lowdown on ethical behaviour in the stands

ABU DHABI // A booklet titled "We are All Khalifa" has been issued to instruct football fans about acceptable behaviour in the stands.

The pamphlet was created by the UAE Football Association (UAEFA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior's Law Respect Culture Bureau to encourage ethical and law-abiding behaviour among sports fans.

The release coincides with the President's Cup final between Al Shabab and Al Ahli, which takes place today in Abu Dhabi.

Lt Col Hammoud Al Afari, deputy director of the Law Respect Culture Bureau, said the booklet is part of an agreement signed recently between the Ministry of Interior and UAEFA to promote the ethical criteria that should govern fans' behaviour in the UAE.

Last month, during a match between Al Ahli and Al Ain, an Al Ahli fan threw a mobile-phone battery charger at an assistant referee's head.
